While I attended graduate school, I was lucky enough to work at the offices of this nation’s oldest, still-published literary journal: The North American Review.
They have started their annual James Hearst Poetry Prize!
With the deadline at October 31, you better get your poetry collections together and edited. You can submit up to 5 original poems for an entry fee of $20. The first place prize is $1000. There is also a second place prize of $100, and a third place prize of $50. All winners and finalists will be published in the Spring 2013 NAR issue.
The entry fee qualifies each submitter for a one-year’s subscription of the journal, and–Something New!–submissions will only be accepted online this year.
North American Review accepts manuscripts in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, essay formats all year round, and they read for free. Click, clicky, click and submit, buy a back issue, or listen to a podcast!
